Blower Resistor
The amount of heat that you get inside your vehicle cabin is greatly determined by the blower, a simple fan that blows in air through the heater core to heat up your vehicle interior. The blower spins in different speeds, and that speed is controlled by the blower resistor. You'll find at least speeds of one to four in the blower, and you can easily adjust that speed so that you'll get your needed heating. There are instances, however, when you might experience having your blower working on particular speeds (such as speeds 1 and 2) and not working on others (like speeds 3 and 4). Problems like this are indications of damage on the blower resistor. This resistor is a simple device that resists electrical flow, receiving a high amount of voltage at one end and then releasing voltage at a lower amount on the other end-this design is aimed at safety.
But, there are circumstances when the blower resistor is burnt at some parts, causing problems depending on the part that's burnt. That's when you experience failure of the blower to operate at certain speeds. This resistor is the most common source of problem in the blower, together with the motor. The good thing is that both parts are very easy to replace. They're also easy to inspect, and to test-all you need to do is to determine the presence of power on the said parts. In case the problem cannot be fixed anymore, the best solution would be to get a replacement blower resistor or blower motor.
