The gear stick or the shifter is the lever used to change gear in a vehicle, such as an automobile with manual transmission or an automatic transmission. The shifter knob on the other hand is located at the end of the gear stick, it is used to hold the gear stick and change gear, normally while depressing the clutch pedal with the left foot to disengage the engine from the wheels in a manual transmission vehicle. Typically the gear knob includes a diagram or that shift pattern of the positions to which the gear stick maybe moved when changing gear.

And in the 70s, the brand introduced the shift and transmission improving kits, and always the constant refinements and expansion of existing product lines.
