You are probably familiar with automatic fuel injection adjustments as well as automatic intake adjustments. These are controlled by the microprocessor control unit or onboard computer of your vehicle. Other vehicle parameters such as torque, horsepower, and emission are also controlled by the onboard computer. However, not all automatic adjustments are electronically controlled. For instance, the Edelbrock Classic IAS Series Shocks is capable of automatic adjustment without the aid of computers. It compensates the different terrain conditions through its inertia active system (IAS) valve. Spring stiffness is automatically adjusted to adapt to the specific terrain.

Basically, the mechanisms are identical with standard shocks. The Edelbrock Classic IAS Series Shocks utilize coil spring to compensate for rebound and the shock absorber shaft is the one that cushions the impact or load. The main difference, of course, is the inertia active system mechanism. Easy handling of the vehicle is assured by reducing the body roll.
