Modern vehicles have a different ignition set-up compared to older automobiles. Nowadays, you will find ignition coils directly mounted above the spark plugs. This set-up does not make use of distributors and ignition wires, and there are at least two or more coils per engine. In older vehicles, the distributor is still used, some with breaker points.
