According to basic chemistry, when water freezes, it expands and occupies more space. Inside your engine block, the same thing happens to your coolant. When temperatures go really low, the coolant can freeze and expand. As it does, it eats more space. Now, this becomes a problem to your engine block because there's a potential for cracking. To prevent this, always use a top-caliber Mr Gasket freeze plug.
The freeze plug comes in several pieces in a kit and is designed to pop out when the temperature goes below zero. As a result, pressure is relieved from the engine block and you prevent damage during coolant freezing. With this plug installed in your vehicle, there's no way you would worry about your engine block again.

Getting the Mr Gasket freeze plug is easy, but how do you install it? Well, you need to follow several steps to get this product ready for action. First, locate your stock freeze plug and take it off. To do that, you need to lift your vehicle using jacks and drain your coolant system. To remove the old and unreliable freeze plug, cut through the plug, insert a flat-tipped screwdriver on the cut, gently tap the screwdriver using a hammer, and start rotating. With reliable pliers, grab the old plug and pull it off the socket. To install the new freeze plug, make sure that it is lined up with the hole. With the help of a screwdriver and hammer, tap it in position. After that, refill the coolant system and start your vehicle's engine.
With the Mr Gasket freeze plug, engine block cracking will be prevented once and for all. If you see signs indicating that your old freeze plug's performance is already going south, simply get a new plug from The Parts Bin.
