GMC Jimmy Brake Rotors, like all cars equipped with disk brakes, are fairly simple to change. They should always be replaced in pairs; for example, always replace both front or both rear rotors. Unevenly worn rotors will lead to uneven braking.

To change your GMC Jimmy brake rotors, place the truck securely on jack stands, being certain to loosen the lug bolts slightly before raising the vehicle. Remove the wheel and set it aside. It can also be used as a convenient, if somewhat dirty, seat while working on the brakes. Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts. These are Allen head bolts located behind the caliper. Slide the caliper off of the mounting point and suspend it from the car, being careful not to hang it from the brake hose. Depending on the year, GMC Jimmy brake rotors may be one piece with the hub, or may be removed separately. Remove the rotor and replace it with a new one. Install your new brake pads and reattach the caliper. Put a small amount of an anti-seize compound on the bolts and torque them.Put the wheel back on, torque it, and voila! You have just completed a brake job on your GMC Jimmy.
