One of the most memorable scenes, perhaps one of the most classic scenes ever filmed, is the crop duster sequence in Alfred Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest.” We find Cary Grant, playing a character named Roger Thornhill, in the middle of a Indiana corn field waiting for the elusive Mr. Kaplin, who never shows up because he never existed. But that gives away too much of the plot.

Anyway, the bad guys who are out to get Cary have a crop duster on the ready and it begins to chase Cary through the rows of corn, covering him with pesticides and spraying bullets at him. As soon as he sees a huge tanker truck racing down the nearby highway, he makes a dash for it, biplane crop duster in hot pursuit.

Cary stands in the middle of the road, holding is hand out and signaling for the truck to stop. It does.
