The Mazda MX3 was introduced in September 1991 to 1998. The design is a four-seat hatchback which was based in the EC platform. This model came up with a two engine options called 1.6 L 14 and the 1.8 L V6.


The straight 4 comes in two versions such as the 66kW or with 88 hp and the 79kw or the 106 hp. The latter was found with the 1994 to the latest model while the former is powered in 1992 and 1993 models.

Actually, this Mazda Mx3 is known for different names. In Canada, this was named as the Mazda MX3 Presidia, Eunos Presso or Eunos 30X in Australia, and the Mazda AZ3 or Autozam in Japan. Even if it was called differently, still it performs the same and having the lowest displacement of V6 engine that is fitted in a 1.8L V6. The speed reaches out to 219 km/h or 136 mph. The V6 engine is really impressive. The engine is smooth and durable that produces high torque from an RPM range. Its intake manifold has a variable length that provides an optimum torque with the use of intake resonance. This system that was used in Mazda MX3 was actually called the “Variable Resonance Induction System”. It reaches a 7000 rpm redline and a fuel cutoff of 7800 rpm. The proprietary Twin-Trapezoidal Link found in the rear of the suspension allows the rear wheels to slightly turn for an improved handling. This idea has been used in most Mazda vehicle models to provide a smooth ride as well as deliver a responsive handling while reducing the tendency of body lean.
