Volvo 940 is a station wagon produced in 1990 until 1998. It was designed to entice Americans and enable the Swedish automaker Volvo to expand its market in the US. Its engine size is 2.3 liter and the brake horsepower ranges from 135hp to 153hp.

Three types of transmission are available - the 4-speed automatic, 4-speed manual, and the 5-speed manual. The 940 is the last among the long-running series of large rear-wheel drive automobiles from Volvo.

It is a modification of the 740 and many of the options in the 940 are available in the 740, such as the dashboard, drivetrain choices, and sheet metal, from the A-pillar forward. Three versions were offered in the United States: the 940 GLE, the 940 Turbo, and the top-end 940 SE.

In 1998, its production was ended and it was rebadged as the Volvo S90 and V90. However, this does not mean that the Volvo 940 parts are already in extinction.
